AWARD WINNING JOURNALIST
and author Christine Wicker ventured to Dr. Lauren's
summer home of Lily Dale, NY, which her husband Ed calls
"psychic summer camp," a few years ago.
One of the dozens of people Wicker interviewed, and one of
the registered mediums she notes as helping clients (and
herself) with profound change, is Dr. Lauren.
The stories of three women changed by their encounters
with Lily Dale are interwoven with accounts of the
mediums, visitors, and peculiar history of Lily Dale. The
lakeside town was a haunt (so to speak) of the famous Mae
West, who was rumored to have had a medium-boyfriend in
the lakeside hamlet.
The book moves from light moments to emotionally touching
events. Pages 185-86 recount Pat's reading with Dr.
Lauren. Pat, a college English professor whose son died by
his own choice, receives a life-changing message from her
son, through Dr. Lauren. The power of mediumship to be a
catalyst for healing is well shown in Wicker's book in
this and other accounts.
Much more than a series of messages from beyond, this book
is the personal journey of a skeptic who explores a town
clinging to a philosophy born in the Victorian era--but
which has much to say to us today.
With compassion, insight and an eye for truth above
all--even when that truth stings a bit as truth has been
known to do when it's not what one wants to hear--Wicker
tells an engaging true story about faith, her personal
transformation, and the power of belief.
