AUTHOR
DR. WAYNE
DYER IN LILY
DALE FOR
11th YEAR IN
A ROW! |
|
 |
 |
I
enjoyed an amazing
summer at my Lily
Dale home. The rain
created an abundance
of lilies and other
flowers in my
garden, and the
Tibetan Monks of
Drepung also left
their special energy
behind. With the
help of many friends
and my husband, Ed,
we treated the 9
monks, their driver
and their translator
to an outdoor buffet
dinner. (Despite the
near-80-degree heat,
the hot-and-sour
soup was a huge
hit!) They then
joined us in our
living room where
they chanted and
blessed the house,
after asking for raw
rice to toss. Led by
a visiting opera
professor from
Virginia, we then
sang an impromptu
selection which
included Amazing
Grace, You are My
Sunshine, and that
perennial
crowd-pleaser, Row
Row Row Your Boat,
in (ragged) rounds.
The monks came to
Lily Dale to create
a mandala of colored
sand, a specific one
which the Dalai Lama
asked be created to
help anchor peace in
the world in the
wake of the 9/11
attacks. After 5
days of painstaking
work to create an
amazing work of art,
the monks held a
powerful ceremony
attended by a
standing-room-only
crowd of over 300
people to return the
mandala to its
origins: grains of
sand. The destroyed
mandala’s sand was
then distributed.
The sacred process
of building and then
dissembling the
mandala symbolizes
the impermanence of
all things. Should
you ever get the
chance, I encourage
you to meet the
Tibetan Monks of
Drepung as they
travel the country
sharing their
special vibration of
joy and light.

mandala was
destroyed. |

The
book Lily Dale by
Christine Wicker has
become a bit of a
sensation—not
surprising with over
35,000 hardcover
copies out since its
April release.
I’ve met dozens of
people who came to
Lily Dale on a sort
of pilgrimage--just
because of the book
(including the opera
singer who visited
with the monks).
We’ve had visitors
from Virginia,
Georgia, Long
Island, New York
City, Seattle and
other cities. Even
the BBC came because
of Christine’s
book—watch for an
upcoming
documentary; chances
are you’ll see me
as “b-roll”
(background footage)
tending my garden at
the very least! If
you get the chance,
read it: it’s
profound, funny and
endearing—just
like Lily Dale
itself.

Maybe
you, too have been
touched over the
years by the work of
Dr. Wayne Dyer. He's
got a new book
coming out next
spring--about his
80th, it
seems--that, based
on his workshop in
Lily Dale last
weekend, will be
very, very
interesting.
I'm honored to have
had the chance to
meet and greet
him--he's been to
Lily Dale for 11
years running, and
plans to come back.
(He even jokes about
why leave Maui for
HERE? But he does
it, and we love him
for it!)on Friday,
Saturday, and
Sunday.
