Lauren Thibodeau: Everything Psychic

By Susan Evrard/Staff Writer

LAUREN THIBODEAU COMBINES a hefty portion of a Ph.D. in counseling, one part Marketing MBA, a dash of engineering pragmatics and a sprinkling of a belief in miracles for her recipe to get clients in touch with their intuitive side.

Thibodeau, who runs the Princeton Center for Applied Intuition, helps people connect with deceased loved ones as well as providing psychic consultations. For Thibodeau, the difference between her and other mediums is what she refers to as a qualitative and systematic approach.

“I'm not the person you want to call if you lose something,” Thibodeau said. Her brand of intuitive counseling deals with absolutes. And, when it comes to questions about lucky lottery numbers and luck in general, Thibodeau says she can't help unless there is some sort of spiritual connection for example, the same numbers used over and over again.

“I don't see a huge distinction between the psychological and the spiritual,” she said.

PLAYING AROUND WITH PSYCHIC FORCES: When it comes to using a Ouija board, séances and conjuring spirits, playful forces are attracted, Thibodeau said.

“When you put out that playful, mischievous spirit, you draw energies that will goof around. It's like leaving a back door open,” she said.

Thibodeau says the best approach to getting to the nuts and bolts of intuition is with an attitude of respect and a sense of the sacred. “I am very big into de-mystifying,” Thibodeau said.

EVERYDAY MIRACLES Everyone has the ability to be intuitive, Thibodeau said. “It's our human birthright. For some, it is not as developed, and it is just a question of making that development.”

People who are singers take voice lessons to develop their voices, she said. In order to develop a sense of the intuitive, you have to develop that skill, and, in order to see miracles, the same principles need to be applied.

“Everyday miracles abound,” Thibodeau said. “But only if you can learn to look at the events in your life with childlike awe.”

The problem for many people is that they don't know what to look for when it comes to miracles. They expect big, earth-shaking events, she said. “It's the little synchronicities that have a miraculous effect in our lives,” Thibodeau said.

RECOGNIZING PEOPLE FROM PAST LIVES: Her experience as an English professor in Japan exposed Thibodeau to a culture which believes in life after death, she said.

“Whenever there is an instantaneous sense of strong emotion - an intense attraction or dislike - it is usually a person from a past life,” Thibodeau said.

People often mistake this as love at first sight or use it to reinforce a belief in soul mates. Not so, she said.

“Be careful when you ask for that soul mate. It may be that you will be asked to work through some unfinished business in your life,” Thibodeau said. “Positive love (based on intellectual stimulation versus emotional) is much more satisfying.”

WHAT IS PSYCHIC COMMUNICATION WITH ANIMALS?: “Animals have a spirit just as we do,” Thibodeau said. “Just as we can communicate with people, we can communicate with animals.”

She likens the innocence of a child's intuition to that of animals. “They are wide open fields of intuition,” she said. “If your cat likes your friends, then they are likely good friends to keep.”

DEMYSTIFYING: “There isn't anything mysterious about all this,” said Thibodeau of her service. She said all she offers clients is an opportunity to examine these feelings in a systematic manner.

She performs consultations over the telephone as well as through e-mail. She can be contacted through her web site at http://www.DrLauren.com or by calling (609) 430-9300.
